Bistro Smart Cat Feeder is a feeder that can help control your cat’s weight. Mu-Chi Sung, a developer based in Taiwan, has designed an automated cat feeder that can recognise you cats’ faces and determine how much food to dispense to each, depending on their weight.  Inspired by his own cat Momo, Mu-Chi Sung aims to help other cats keep healthy and happy.

With Bistro smart cat feeder you can track your kitties’ eating habits even if you have multiple cats at home. The unit works for cats who are at least 6 month old. It is both an automatic feeder and a health manager for your feline companions.
The Bistro has weight sensors beneath the feeding tray and water dispenser so you can track the food and water intake and understand your cat’s dietary needs and status. It also comes with a weighing scale which allows you to keep track of your cat’s weight.
The most exciting feature is the built-in camera with cat facial recognition. So you can tell which cat is eating in a multiple cats household. With the in Bistro app you can also track your cat’s eating habits on the go and watch them through the built in camera while you are away.  There is a built-in gentle LED lighting system for night time feeding. 

The Bistro smart cat feeder can also help solve the problem of food stealing in a multiple-cat household. You can even customize your own feeding program for your cat via an API.

1. When your cat comes and steps on the Bistro, the built-in camera is activated and streams video to our backend server which will run the cat-facial recognition algorithm to distinguish which cat it is. If the system has never seen this cat before, it will notify the owner to either create a new cat profile or link with an existing one. The algorithm is based on years of research and development in deep learning technology.
2. When your kitty is having a meal, the weight sensors (load sensors) beneath the feeding tray, waterer, and the weighing scale will measure the weights continuously. After the cat leaves, the system will automatically calculate the amount of food and water your cat took as well as their weight.
3. The measured data is then immediately sent through our cloud service to your smartphone, where you can easily review your cat’s diet historyand health analysis report with the Bistro App. You can easily check out individual data or the weekly or monthly trend chart. When visiting a vet and being asked about how well they eat and drink, you can show them the app with the most detailed diet and weight history
