The Parrot Won't Stop Screaming. What To Do?

If you decide to adopt a bird as a pet, you will need to be prepared for some level of noise. Parrots are vociferous animals, and they need to create a level of background noise when attempting to communicate with people or other animals in their environment. Even birds living alone will call their relatives who are at a distance away, or, if they are not nearby, then demand attention from their owners.

Communication is important for birds because they live in flocks and must coordinate their actions within the group. Although, if a healthy bird screams all the time, this is worth paying attention to. Perhaps this means it has a problem.

Here are some tips to help manage or reduce your parrot's screaming:

1. Make sure the bird is in good health. If your parrot starts screaming unusual or aggressively, it is important to check its health. Screaming can be a sign of illness or discomfort. Contact your veterinarian to check your bird's general health and rule out any possible medical problems.

2. Provide sufficient activity and stimulation. A parrot may scream because it is simply bored. Through crying, it tries to attract the attention of the owner or family members. Make sure your pet gets enough exercise, play and attention. Provide it with a variety of toys, interesting things to explore, and participation in family activities.

3. Set a regular schedule and maintain a routine. Birds often require stability and predictability. Establish a regular schedule for feeding, cleaning the cage, socializing, and playing with your parrot. Maintaining a routine can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can help reduce yelling.

4. Find out the causes of anxiety. Pay attention to possible causes of anxiety in your parrot, such as predators inside or outside the house, changes in the environment, or changes in the family. A parrot may scream because it is scared. Eliminate or reduce these factors to help your bird feel calmer and safer.

5. Use positive training. Try to use positive training methods to show your bird how to behave. Encouragement and reward will help the parrot get used to the desired behavior and reduce loud cries.

As with any animal, getting the behavior you want requires patience. If the crying problem persists or worsens, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian or an experienced behavioral specialist for more specific advice and assistance.
